From stadium stages to university lecture halls — Diljit Dosanjh is making history again. The global music and film icon is now the subject of academic study, with Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) set to introduce a full-fledged course on his cultural and musical impact. Offered by The Creative School, the course was officially announced during the Billboard Summit at NXNE in Toronto.

In doing so, Diljit Dosanjh joins an elite league of artists like The Beatles, Beyoncé, and Taylor Swift — figures whose work transcends entertainment and enters scholarly discourse. TMU’s course, launching in Fall 2026, will explore the ‘cultural, musical and diasporic relevance’ of the artist’s work, examining how his sound and story reflect broader conversations around identity, authenticity, and global pop culture.

Dr. Charlie Wall-Andrews, Assistant Professor at The Creative School, called the course a milestone moment: “Diljit’s journey illustrates the cultural influence and economic potential of Punjabi music on the world stage. His rise is a powerful example of how regional artists are shaping global narratives.”

From Coachella to Fallon, and now to the classroom — Diljit Dosanjh isn’t just making headlines. He’s making history.

Title: Whispers of Darkness: The Haunting Tale of 'Monster of Florence

Jasmine Singh Weather has pretty much changed in Canada; well, let's just say not for good. Darkness seeps in fast, and sometimes this darkness gets to your mind, leaving you unsure of what to do. Here, I was staged by this darkness, and then in dark crevices, I found a limited web series about the first serial killer of Italy. Thus, director Stefano Sollima’s four-part examination of Italy’s notorious “Mostro di Firenze” murders, which left a trail of 16 dead bodies between 1968 and 1985, can only hint strongly at the identity of the perpetrator.
