Canada to Increase Border Security Measures

Canada is set to intensify security at its border by increasing surveillance through drones and helicopters, as well as deploying more border security agents. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made this announcement during a meeting with incoming U.S. President Donald Trump.

Trudeau unexpectedly traveled to Florida on Friday night to address the tariff issue, where he met with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort. The meeting lasted approximately three hours.

However, Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc acknowledged that Canada has not yet received assurances that Trump will back down from the proposed tariffs. Despite this, LeBlanc expressed confidence that Canada still has time to present its case and that Trump will ultimately recognize that imposing tariffs is not in the best interest of either country.

It is important to note that the United States is Canada's largest trading partner, and Trump's proposed 25 percent tariff could have serious economic repercussions for Canada.

LeBlanc added that his team would continue to engage with the Trump administration, emphasizing that such a tariff would not be beneficial for either country.
