Prime Minister Mark Carney is in Vancouver today, where he is scheduled to join British Columbia Premier David Eby for an announcement related to new housing development and local infrastructure projects.
According to information released by the Prime Minister's Office, the joint announcement will be followed by a private meeting between Carney and Eby. Details of the measures to be announced have not yet been released.
The announcement comes as housing affordability, housing supply, and infrastructure capacity remain key issues across British Columbia and other parts of Canada. Federal and provincial governments have been pursuing a range of initiatives aimed at accelerating residential construction and supporting growing communities.
Later in the day, Carney is expected to attend the FIFA World Cup 2026 match between Canada and Qatar at BC Place Stadium. Reports indicate ticket prices for the match ranged from approximately $800 to as high as $22,000 on the resale market.
Fans without tickets will be able to watch the match free of charge at the FIFA Fan Festival in Hastings Park and at organized watch parties across Metro Vancouver.
