India’s Enforcement Directorate conducted searches at multiple premises linked to the Lovely Group in Jalandhar and Phagwara on Tuesday, according to information provided by officials familiar with the operation.
The searches were carried out by a Delhi-based ED team under provisions of the Foreign Exchange Management Act, focusing on alleged violations. Authorities did not publicly detail the nature or scale of the suspected irregularities.
Premises covered in the Action include Lovely Professional University, Lovely Autos, Lovely Sweets and a distance education centre operated by the group, according to the information available. Residential properties and offices linked to members of the Mittal family were also searched.
Aam Aadmi Party Member of Parliament Ashok Mittal, who heads the Lovely Group and was recently appointed deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha, is associated with the entities under scrutiny. Searches were also reported at locations connected to his brothers, Ramesh Mittal and Naresh Mittal.
The ED has not issued a detailed public statement on the Action at the time of publication, and the allegations have not been tested in court.
