Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum says authorities will investigate a shooting at the Teotihuacán pyramids that left one Canadian tourist dead and another injured. The incident occurred Monday at the historic site northeast of Mexico City, according to statements posted by federal officials.

Sheinbaum said on social media the shooting “deeply pains” her government and confirmed she has been in contact with the Canadian Embassy. Details about the victims have not been fully released by Canadian officials.

Mexican security officials identified the suspected gunman to The Associated Press as 27-year-old Julio Cesar Jasso. Authorities said the suspect later died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The circumstances leading up to the shooting have not been publicly confirmed.

According to Mexico’s Security Cabinet, 13 people were taken to hospital, including a Canadian identified as 29-year-old Delicia Li de Yong. Video and images published by local media appear to show a gunman standing atop one of the pyramids as visitors sought cover.

The Teotihuacán archaeological site, one of Mexico’s most visited पर्यटन destinations, drew more than 1.8 million international visitors last year. Officials have not said whether security protocols at the site will be reviewed as part of the investigation.

B.C. premier calls for stronger AI chatbot reporting requirements in federal online harms bill

British Columbia Premier David Eby says the federal government's proposed online harms legislation does not go far enough in addressing risks associated with artificial intelligence chatbots. Eby criticized the bill for not requiring technology companies to report dangerous or suspicious user activity to police. He said companies should be obligated to notify law enforcement if a user is believed to be using an AI chatbot to plan a violent crime. The premier pointed to the Tumbler Ridge mass shooting, stating that the suspect's chatbot account had been flagged before the attack. According to E
