BC Liberal MLA Mike Bernier has been appointed Chair for the Select Standing Committee on Public Accounts, a committee tasked with scrutinizing the economy, effectiveness and efficiency of government organizations and auditing reports from the Auditor General.

"It is an honour to be appointed as the Chair of this committee and I look forward to stepping into this new role," said Bernier, BC Liberal Finance Critic and MLA for Peace River South.

"In a time where government spending has increased so dramatically to face the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is more important than ever to continue this committee’s important work and provide greater government transparency," continued Bernier.

"I am pleased to have the opportunity to serve British Columbians in this new capacity."
