Patty Hajdu takes important step to resolve dispute between Canada Post and union

Federal Jobs Minister Patty Hajdu is taking an important step to resolve the dispute between Canada Post and the union, under which postal workers will have to vote on Canada Post's latest offer.

This was requested by Canada Post itself, saying that the issue with the union did not seem to be resolved. Jobs Minister Hajdu said that after 18 months of negotiations, more than 200 meetings, a 33-day strike and a lockout in the fall, the issue between Canada Post and the union has not been resolved, so ordering postal workers to vote is in the public interest.

Canada Post welcomed the Jobs Minister's move and said that this historic decision will give our employees the opportunity to directly raise their voice and vote on the new agreement. Meanwhile, the union has rejected the idea of a vote on the latest offer and has demanded arbitration.
