Shiromani Akali Dal announced the candidate for the by-election of Jalandhar West Constituency

Shiromani Akali Dal has announced the candidate for the by-election of Jalandhar West Constituency. Akali Dal has given ticket to Bibi Surjit Kaur, wife of former councilor Jathedar Pritam Singh Basti Mithu.

In the Jalandhar West constituency, a five-cornered contest will be seen, here Congress, AAP, BJP, Akali Dal and BSP have entered the fray. Congress has also fielded a woman candidate.

The Jalandhar West constituency will be a question of prestige for the Aam Aadmi Party in the state as the seat was earlier won by Sheetal Angural on an AAP ticket, who is now in the fray from the BJP.

Angural had resigned as an MLA during the Lok Sabha elections and joined the BJP but tried to withdraw his resignation as soon as the elections were over, although the Speaker sealed the resignation, leading to the Jalandhar West constituency. Assembly elections are being held again.
