India’s beloved “Missile Man,” Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, is set to receive a grand cinematic tribute, with National Award-winning actor Dhanush stepping into the iconic role. The highly anticipated biopic, Kalam: The Missile Man of India, was officially announced amidst global fanfare at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, capturing international attention.

Helmed by visionary director Om Raut—best known for Adipurush—the film promises a deeply human and inspirational portrayal of one of India's most revered figures. The project is being brought to life by powerhouse producers Abhishek Agarwal (The Kashmir Files) and Bhushan Kumar of T-Series, ensuring a production of grand scale and emotional depth.

Screenwriter Saiwyn Quadras, whose writing credits include critically acclaimed films like Neerja and Maidaan, crafts the narrative with a thoughtful and nuanced lens. The screenplay draws from Dr. Kalam’s bestselling autobiography Wings of Fire, and delves beyond the public persona to reveal the man behind the legend — the scientist, the teacher, the philosopher, and the poet.

The film charts Dr. Kalam’s incredible journey, beginning with his modest upbringing in the coastal town of Rameswaram, navigating through his groundbreaking work with India’s space and missile programs, and culminating in his role as the 11th President of India — a people’s president who inspired generations with his humility, wisdom, and vision.

Promising a cinematic experience that is both epic and intimate, Kalam: The Missile Man of India is poised to celebrate not just a national hero, but a soul who continues to ignite minds across the world.
