Former Punjabi Lawyer Arrested in $4.3M Mortgage Fraud Investigation

Peel Regional Police in Ontario have arrested a former Punjabi lawyer in connection with an alleged $4.3-million mortgage and cheque fraud investigation. The accused has been identified as 52-year-old Pawanjeet Singh Mann.

According to police, Mann is alleged to have been involved in mortgage fraud-related activities since 2019. His licence to practise law was revoked by the Ontario Law Society Tribunal in July 2025.

Between June and July of this year, Peel police received several complaints against Mann. An investigation was launched in August, during which investigators alleged that Mann was involved in four separate mortgage and cheque fraud incidents, resulting in approximately $4.3 million in losses to victims.

Mann was arrested in Brampton on August 21 and has been charged with 13 offences, including fraud and breach of trust.

Investigators believe there may be additional victims connected to the case. The investigation remains ongoing.
