Amid reports of a threat to the life of senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia, his wife Ganieve Kaur Majithia visited him at Nabha jail on Wednesday and urged the Punjab government to treat the matter with seriousness. Speaking to reporters after the meeting, she said concerns over her husband’s safety could not be ignored.

Ganieve Kaur Majithia said that if any harm comes to Bikram Majithia inside the jail, responsibility would lie with the Punjab Director General of Police, the Additional Director General of Police, and the jail superintendent. She alleged that she has no faith in the present state government when it comes to ensuring his security.

She further claimed that surveillance cameras installed outside Majithia’s barrack are being monitored by teams linked to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, raising questions about jail security protocols and oversight.

Ganieve Kaur Majithia added that she has full faith in the judiciary and expressed confidence that Bikram Singh Majithia would be released from jail soon. The Shiromani Akali Dal has previously raised concerns about Majithia’s safety and treatment while in custody, calling on authorities to ensure his protection.
