Honda Canada has firmly denied reports suggesting that it plans to move vehicle production from Canada to the United States. The company confirmed that its manufacturing facility in Alliston, Ontario, is operating at full capacity and that no production changes are currently being considered.

The denial comes in response to a report by a Japanese newspaper, which claimed that Honda was considering shifting parts of its car production from Mexico and Canada to the U.S. to avoid tariffs linked to U.S. President Donald Trump’s trade policies. According to the report, the move was aimed at ensuring that 90% of Honda vehicles sold in the U.S. are produced locally.

The report stirred political debate in Canada. NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh responded by emphasizing that Canada has made significant investments in the auto sector. He asserted that if companies wish to sell cars to Canadians, they should also manufacture them domestically.

Honda has reiterated that it remains committed to its Canadian operations and intends to continue running its Alliston plant at full capacity for the foreseeable future.

Canada Could Face Major Economic Hit from Trump’s Tariff War, Economists Warn

Canada could suffer significant economic losses if U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposed tariff war becomes a reality, according to economists. She compared the potential situation to past crises such as the 2008 financial meltdown and the 2020 COVID-19 p

B.C. government announces changes to graduated drivers' licensing regime

The British Columbia government is making changes to its graduated drivers licensing regime, eliminating the need for a second road test to obtain a full licence. Public Safety Minister Garry Begg says the changes, if approved, will see new drivers get "on-road experience" and be subject to a 12-month restriction rather than be required to take another test to get their Class 5 licence. A statement from the ministry says there will also be a new program to licence motorcycle drivers, who are "overrepresented in fatal crashes in B.C." The ministry statement says the program hasn't been signific
