A man was injured in a police-involved shooting in Burnaby and was taken to hospital for treatment.
According to the B.C. RCMP, police received a report of a disturbance at a home on Kingsway Avenue at approximately 10:15 a.m. on Sunday.
When officers arrived at the scene, a man allegedly approached them while carrying a sharp-edged weapon. In response to the perceived threat, one of the officers fired their service weapon, injuring the man.
The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of B.C. has taken over the investigation. The agency is appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward with information.
