South Fraser Way is closed in both directions between McCallum Road and Bourquin Crescent East following a serious collision involving a pedestrian, according to a police release.

Abbotsford Police said the pedestrian was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service is assisting with the investigation. Police have not released details on the circumstances leading up to the collision.

The closure is expected to remain in place for several hours while investigators examine the scene. Motorists are being asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
