Delta Street in Ladner came alive Sunday with the 5th annual Old Town Ladner Car and Quilt Show, as classic car enthusiasts and families gathered to admire vintage vehicles, handmade quilts, and community spirit — all while raising funds for hospice services.
More than 100 cars lined the street between Chisholm and Bridge Street. Owners answered questions about restoration and maintenance, while children posed for photos alongside polished chrome and colourful quilts.
Organizers confirmed that proceeds from the $20 exhibitor fee and a 50/50 draw would go to the Heron Hospice Society, which supports end-of-life care for families in Delta.
"Events like this keep hospice programs alive. Every dollar raised helps families facing some of their hardest days," one organizer told Connect FM.
Community members noted the event’s return was especially meaningful after the financial strains of the pandemic. In 2023, the Ladner Business Association (LBA) had cancelled the Quilt Walk and Car Show, citing the high costs for sponsors and the limited volunteer capacity following COVID-19. The cancellation highlighted the economic challenges that still weigh on small community events.
Participant Ed Leach said he was pleased to be part of the fundraiser: “I’m happy to contribute and to see the community turn out. ICBC even helped me with the VIN number for my car, and now it’s here on display.”
This year’s show therefore represented a comeback for Ladner, blending nostalgia with renewed support for local services. One Delta resident told Connect FM: “It’s more than cars and quilts — it’s proof our community can bounce back, even after setbacks like COVID.”
The event concluded with the 50/50 draw at 4 p.m., with organizers optimistic that the funds raised will provide lasting support for hospice care.
